"I loved my holiday in Sun Valley - It feels retro, but not old fashioned. The descent from the top of Bald Mountain to the Warm Springs base is a proper thigh burner with fun rollers and stunning views. In mid-March we felt like we had the place to ourselves."

Sun Valley Ski Holidays

Sun Valley really does boast something for everyone. Blending a vibrant town with a compact mountain village, progress from the relaxed slopes of Dollar Mountain onto the world-renowned terrain of Bald Mountain and after your days on the slopes, retreat to your hotel spa or venture into historic Ketchum to continue exploring this unique destination.

Explore the slopes

With the perfect pitch, tree lined runs and over 205 days of sunshine a year – Bald Mountain is set to impress.

Start out with some easy groomers in the sunshine on the Seattle Ridge side, runs like Gretchen's Gold, Christin's Silver, and Muffy's Medals are each named after our legendary, local lady Olympians and Paralympians. Once warmed up move to the centre mountain, if it's a groomer day head for the steeper groomed blues around Frenchman's Chair including Graduate and Janss Pass, if it's a warmer late spring day or powder day, make your way to the upper bowls like Mayday, Lookout, and Lefty for some fun.

Over on Dollar Mountain – home of the world’s very first chairlift – this is an excellent place for newbies to get started. The beginner friendly runs here are sure to put a smile your face.

Enjoy the resort

With two unique villages to explore – Sun Valley Resort has you spoilt for choice.

Sun Valley Village is designed as your family friendly, self-contained base with pedestrianised areas for safe strolling, a variety of restaurants and shops along with a cinema, bowling alley and ice rink. Bald Mountain base is about an 11-minute free shuttle ride away from here while beginner haven, Dollar Mountain is just 5 minutes away on the free shuttle service. Our accommodation recommendation here is Sun Valley Inn or Sun Valley Lodge Apartments.

Historic Ketchum is the main town in the area, founded in the 1800’s during the silver and lead mining boom and named after David Ketchum – a local trapper and guide. Ketchum is packed with heritage, has an authentic mountain town vibe and provides convenient access to world-class skiing on Bald Mountain and Dollar Mountain. Take the time to explore the lively downtown core with restaurants, shops and art galleries, plus keep your eyes peeled for cultural events held throughout the year. Ketchum describes itself as a Small Town with Big Life.

Après-Ski in Sun Valley

Start your apres straight off the slopes of Bald Mountain at River Run Day Lodge - this is the place to not only fuel up before you start your day but also the place to chill out and share your stories after an amazing day on the mountain. Take a seat by the warm fire in this cosy ski lodge and enjoy wood-fired pizzas, hot wok items and refreshing drinks. Some say this is where to find the best Bloody Mary!

Back in town you'll find a number of great spots to carry on the apres - try Lefty's or Grumpy's for a laid lack locals vibe and tasty burgers or Warfield Distillery & Brewery's trendy roof deck with firefits. Up at Sun Valley Village, Dunchin Lounge is upscale with creative cocktails and extenstive wine list.
