"One ski area, two countries and so much amazing après ski! Ischgl is an all-round brilliant ski destination. "
Ischgl Ski Holidays
The Austrian resort of Ischgl is a skier’s dream. With a huge snow-sure ski area linking Austria and Switzerland, traditional Tyrolean charm and unrivalled après-ski opportunities, Ischgl should be up there on everyone’s must-ski destinations.
Enjoy the Slopes
The ski slopes of Ischgl won’t disappoint with 239km slopes to explore served by 45 state-of-the-art ski lifts. With a good variety of blues, reds and blacks, skiers of all abilities are well catered for in this extensive resort. Ischgl also boasts an excellent snow record with the season running from November until May and is famous for both its opening and closing concerts with world-famous acts like Ellie Goulding, Black Eyed Peas and George Ezra performing in recent winters.
Even better, a stay in Ischgl allows you to combine two fantastic ski nations in one trip – Austria and Switzerland. The ski area extends seamlessly across the border to the neighbouring Swiss village of Samnaun which is also a duty free shopping zone. The ‘smuggler’s trail’ is now a blissful ski trail but was once a favourite route for bringing contraband across the border. If you decide to stock up, make sure you have a way to carry your purchases back across the slopes to Ischgl!
There are three main access points to the Ischgl ski area: the Silvrettabahn, the Fimbabahn and the modern 3S Pardatschgratbahn. All three are within easy walking distance from the village centre and take you straight into the heart of the skiing action.
Enjoy the Resort
Away from the slopes, Ischgl is especially well known for its legendary après-ski – virtually unrivalled across the Alps. From early afternoon, you'll find people dancing on tables, and there’s a huge selection of bars and clubs for those wanting to party late into the night.
But Ischgl has much more to offer than just partying: for those who prefer a more relaxed pace, there are fantastic alternatives such as snowshoe hiking, winter walks along well-maintained trails, or a romantic night-time toboggan run – a truly special experience in the snow-covered mountains.
The village itself retains much of its original Tyrolean architecture and charm and you’ll find a good selection of shops and restaurants to sample.
Where to Stay
There’s a great choice of 4 and 5 star accommodation in Ischgl from family-run hotels to large full-service 5-star resorts. Whatever your preference, we’ll find the best accommodation for your needs.
