Aosta Valley Ski Holidays
In the north-west corner of Italy, the Aosta Valley offers a perfect blend of Italian and French culture. Home to a number of renowned ski areas, it’s easy to see why so many people count the Aosta Valley among their top ski destinations. Opt for the huge ski area of Cervinia with links over to neighbouring Zermatt and fabulous views of the magnificent Matterhorn. Or why not visit Courmayeur where you’ll find a charming village centre and lively après scene? If you’re looking to combine the best of Italy and France in one trip, check out La Thuile which links over to La Rosière in France – a large ski area that’s perfect for cruising intermediates.
Explore the slopes
Cervinia
Linked to neighbouring Zermatt in Switzerland, the ski area here offers 360km of blissful groomed slopes, particularly well-suited to intermediate skiers. The resort itself sits at an altitude of 2050m and with the slopes located between 1620 and 3899m, this is a snow-sure resort with a long season. The red descents from the top of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise are among the longest you’ll find anywhere in the world and offer some of the best fun you can have on skis! The views of the Matterhorn on the Swiss side are incredible so we’d always recommend upgrading to a full area international ski pass.
Courmayeur
In the shadows of Monte Bianco (or Mont Blanc if you prefer), Courmayeur offers 100km of groomed slopes to explore ranging from an altitude of 1210m to 2755m. With mostly blue and red slopes the ski area is best suited to intermediates and boasts a good number of mountain restaurants. It’s also possible to take a day trip over to Chamonix for some classic French skiing.
La Thuile
Enjoy a perfect Italian-French blend in La Thuile which is connected to the French resort of La Rosière. The combined San Bernardo ski area offers more than 150km of fantastic ski slopes with pistes to suit most abilities. With the skiing between 1400 and 2800m the ski area has a long season running from mid-December until early April.
Enjoy the resorts
All of our featured resorts have a good selection of restaurants and bars to sample during your stay – and on a trip to Italy it would be rude not to indulge! Cervinia has a fairly large resort centre with many traditional chalet buildings and you’ll find plenty going on here. Courmayeur has a charming historic centre and has some lively après spots. La Thuile is a family-orientated destination with plenty of charm and stunning scenery.
