Val d'Isère Ski Holidays

With almost 100 years of skiing history, Val d’Isère is a true classic of the French Alps – one that everybody should visit at least once. Staying here will allow you to discover the mecca that is the stunning 300km Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area. You’ll understand why many skiers and boarders just keep coming back for more.

Explore the slopes

The snow sure pistes of Val d’Isère are conveniently linked with those of Tignes to create a huge, seamless ski area. With a whopping vertical of over 1,900 metres, the Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area has more than enough room to accommodate all ages and abilities. This is especially true since the redevelopment of the Solaise area, creating some fantastic beginner slopes. Confident intermediates and advanced skiers will be in their element, with no end of demanding runs to conquer. Don’t miss your chance to ski the iconic La Face Olympic downhill run!

As well as a wealth of beautifully groomed pistes, there are also huge possibilities for off-piste skiing, to be explored with a qualified instructor. We’ll gladly organise a lesson for you if you fancy giving it a try.

Enjoy the resort

Sitting at 1850m, there’s a sophisticated atmosphere in Val d’Isère with plenty of upmarket restaurants and bars, including a couple of Michelin-starred gems.

The après-ski scene is famous for being lively, with ample opportunity to dance in your ski boots at popular party venues like La Folie Douce if you so wish. There’s plenty of variety though, so feel free to relax by the fire with a quiet cocktail or two if that’s more your cup of tea.

Val d’Isère is ideal for non-skiers and families, thanks to its large menu of activities. Up the ante with something exhilarating like paragliding or simply enjoy a little well-deserved pampering back at your accommodation if you’re lucky enough to be staying at one of the resort’s luxury hotels.

Where to stay

Val d’Isère is a world-class resort, so it’s only right that our selection of apartments and hotels are equally so. If you’re dreaming of unfettered 5-star luxury, this is one of the best resorts in the Alps for sublime accommodation.

We’ve hand-picked a wonderful choice of full-service hotels and charming self-catering apartments – some contemporary, others traditional, many boasting fabulous ski-in/ski-out locations. Whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, in a group or with your family, rest assured there’s a place you’ll be excited to call home for a week or two.

Après-Ski in Val d'Isère

Val d'Isère is renowned for its après-ski scene with plenty of busy bars to help keep you amused well into the early hours.

For lively entertainment, table dancing and excessive amounts of champagne before you even get off the slopes, the Folie Douce is the place to begin your après-ski.

In the resort itself Cocorico at the bottom of the slopes offers some incredible music and an electric atmosphere. Les Fils a Maman is located right at the base of the mountain so is perfect for an après-ski drink or something to eat. For a proper pub atmosphere with a Scandinavian twist, try Le Petit Danois - this is a busy hangout throughout the season and there's live music and DJ nights.

For a more sophisticated feel, we think nothing beats cocktails at Le Blizzard with its sumptuous sofas and impecabble service. If you want to make friends with the locals, Le XV at the lower end of the village has a more French vibe.

Val d’Isère’s most famous night club, open since 1979, is Dick’s Tea Bar.

Dining in Val d'Isère

Val d'Isère has a huge array of eateries to suit all tastes and budgets - below is just a selection of some of the restaurants you will find on offer.

Restaurants in Town

L'Altiplano at the Hotel K2 Chogori serves Peruvian cuisine in a modern and elegant setting. For Michelin-starred dining, La Table de l'Ours at the Hotel Les Barmes de l'Ours offers a true a gastronomic delight with à la carte and tasting menus available.

The Fondue Factory is a relatively recent addition to the Val d'Isère restaurant offering. As the name suggests, they specialise in a myriad of different fondues plus traditional Savoyard and grilled meat dishes. La Casa Scara specialises in Italian cuisine and Le 1789 is a must for local Savoyard food. Le Lodge has a busy bar downstairs and a great pizza restaurant upstairs which caters for children and has a family feel in the early evening. Bar Jacques is a good value Savoyard restaurant while La Baraque is extremely popular with locals offering good food and entertainment.

Restaurants on the Slopes

La Frutière is arguably one of Val d'Isère's best mountain restaurants. Featuring a dairy-inspired decor, it offers exceptional food and service plus a superb wine list to boot. Cafe Bellevarde has a fantastic sun terrace and Le Trifollet enjoys a peaceful setting on the run down to la Daille with excellent, friendly service.

Activities in Val d'Isère

With so much great skiing, shopping and nightlife you probably won't have much time for anything else! However, the resort does have a long list of ‘off-slope’ activities too, making it a good choice if you have a non-skier in your party.

There’s an excellent aqua centre with a range of well-being and sports facilities or why not try snowshoeing? There's also an outdoor ice rink. If you fancy seeing Val d'Isère from above you can also try paragliding.
