Lech Ski Holidays

Considered the cradle of Alpine skiing, the vast Arlberg massif is home to the largest interconnected ski area in Austria. Lech is a pretty, upmarket town at the heart of it all with easy access to the ski area and an understated, elegant feel. What could be better than a ski holiday in the place where this fabulous winter sport began?

Explore the slopes

With more than 300km of spectacular pistes, a state-of-the-art lift network and views to take your breath away, you could ski the Arlberg ski area all season and never get bored.

Famous for its perfectly groomed pistes, the skiing in Lech works well for skiers of all abilities, including beginners. There’s a good range of ski school options for anyone looking to improve their skills or confidence on the mountain. You’ll also find ample opportunity for quality on-mountain dining whenever you need a break!

Intermediate and expert skiers will enjoy venturing further afield to neighbouring St Anton, which has a reputation for more challenging and extreme terrain, including terrain parks. Or why not try the 85km Run of Fame route? This is the longest ski circuit in the Alps which allows you to explore all corners of this stunning ski area.

Enjoy the resort

The picturesque village of Lech has very much stayed true to its authentic Tyrolean roots and offers bags of charm and character. From the picture-perfect Austrian chalets and church spires dusted with snow to the excellent choice of restaurants and bars, this is an all-round first-class resort.

Where to stay

In Lech we’ve hand-picked some beautiful hotels throughout the village. Styles vary from contemporary to traditional, but you’ll find a warm welcome wherever you choose.

Après-Ski in Lech

The après-ski scene in Lech tends to be refined and upmarket but there are livelier options for those in search of a party. The terrace at the Tannbergerhof is a renowned après spot serving champagne and beers at its heated outdoor tables. The Arlberg Club House is a vibrant new spot with gastronomy at its heart and has an upmarket bar and club. The Yurt, next to the Hotel Arlberg, is also a great spot with DJ sets in a unique setting. Later at night the K.Club is the place to be for late night DJ sets and partying until the small hours.

Dining in Lech

Boasting the world’s highest density of award-winning restaurants per capita, Lech-Zürs doesn’t disappoint when it comes to its dining credentials. Enjoy gourmet dining at the 2 Michelin-starred Griggeler Stuba (part of the Burg Vital Resort in Oberlech) or head to the Restaurant Marile where you can sample cuisine bringing together Austrian traditions and modern innovations. The restaurant at Aurelio Hotel also comes highly recommended and offers the possibility of a 5 to 8 course tasting menu. For something more simple, why not try a chinoise fondue in many restaurants like the Hotel Post or Älpele? This involves cooking very thinly sliced pieces of meat in broth – delicious!

Activities in Lech

Aside from skiing, there are lots of activities to enjoy in the winter wonderland of Lech. Why not experience a horse-drawn sleigh ride from the pretty village centre to Zug in a marvellous winter wonderland? Or for something a bit more high octane, tobogganing is a great activity for the whole family. You may, however, prefer to sit back and relax in a pavement café as you watch the world go by!
