Essential Travel Information for Canada

We hope you are looking forward to your holiday and we’d like to thank you for booking with Ski Independence. Before you travel, please take some time to read through the information below. If you have any questions about any aspect of your holiday arrangements, please contact us on 0131 243 8097 or at [email protected].

You will receive your holiday documents in the post roughly two weeks prior to departure. If you haven’t received your documents by this time, please let us know.

Before You Travel

Passports and Visas

British Citizens need a valid 10 year passport that should be valid for the duration of your stay. If you’re travelling through another country on your way to or from Canada you will need to check the entry requirements for that country.

If you are travelling to Canada with any children who do not have the same family name, or as a single parent with your children, you must carry a letter confirming your right to be travelling with the child or children.

For full information please contact the Canadian High Commission: https://www.international.gc.ca/

Advance Passenger Information (APIS)

All passengers with flight bookings are required to supply Advance Passenger Information (passport details). Please send us your APIS information prior to departure using our online form.

eTA (Electronic Travel Authorisation):

Under Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program, citizens from countries other than the USA who do not require a visa to enter Canada need to obtain an online authorisation before flying to Canada. The application process is quick and easy at a low cost of only CAD7 per person, and the eTA is valid for up to five years. You apply online, providing basic personal information similar to what is currently collected when you arrive in Canada. eTA is convenient and paperless, which means most visa-exempt nationals who wish to travel to Canada will have their eTA granted within minutes of applying. This requirement is mandatory for travel to Canada. You must have your eTA in place before travelling to Canada. If you renew or change your passport then you need to reapply for your eTA. Your eTA information must match your APIS information. We strongly recommend that you apply for eTA well in advance of your departure date. You can apply for your eTA at www.Canada.ca/eta (this is the official site and the only one you should use).

Travel Insurance

Under no circumstances should you travel without comprehensive winter sports insurance. You and all members of your party must be adequately insured for your ski holiday risks. Due to government regulations, we are unable to recommend a policy to you.

Holidays With Flights

The names on the booking confirmation and flight documentation must bear the same first name and surname as your passport. Contact us immediately if this is not the case as you could be denied boarding at the airport.

If you have any problems during your stay, please call us on +44 131 243 8097 during office hours. Outside office hours and in case of an emergency, we have senior member of staff on duty 24 hours, who can be contacted on +44 7788 711 373
