Tim Fitzgerald from Silver Star Mountain Resort has written an update on winter 2013/2014 in Silver Star and has put together his list of recommendations on how to get the most of our your trip. From its humble beginnings as a local ski hill in the late '50s, Silver Star Mountain Resort has evolved into a world-class winter holiday destination. Renowned for its amazing light, dry snow and crowned as one of Canada's favourite family resorts, guests visiting from around the world continue to experience the charm of our quaint resort village. The vibrant architecture helps distinguish Silver Star as one of the most colourful and welcoming resorts in Western Canada. [caption id="attachment_6370" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Winter 2013/2014 in Silver Star Silver Star's charming resort centre[/caption] Modelled after an early 1900s mining town, its bars, restaurants, and shops make up the resort's charming main street. It's also home to a number of its long-time residents and local characters, giving Silver Star its safe, welcoming community feel. Just ask, and you'll find these same locals are willing to share their secrets that have kept them calling Silver Star home for so long. And that’s what makes Silver Star so special; it's a big mountain with a small town feel, offering all the terrain you’d expect at a larger resort, without the crowds. Located a mile above sea level in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, Silver Star is a haven for skiers and snowboarders looking for a big mountain experience without the tedious line-ups. With 115 runs spread over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, the resort features three distinct  mountain faces. Long, perfectly groomed cruisers, steep powder-filled chutes, long winch-cat black-diamond runs, glades, back-country, and a 16-acre terrain park combine to keep all levels of skiers and boarders thoroughly satisfied.
