January 2020
Flaine is one of the most popular ski resorts in the Alps, and it’s easy to see why. It’s only a short transfer away from Geneva, has a good selection of accommodation, and is part of the impressive Grand Massif ski area. Our Marketing Executive Rebekah has just returned from a holiday with friends to Flaine and has written a blog about her time there.
We stayed in an apartment at Residence Les Terrasses d’Helios. The accommodation was great, with everything you need for the whole week under one roof, including leisure facilities, a ski rental shop, and a Spar mini-market.
Taking in the views from les Grandes Platieres
We knew we would be arriving late-evening, and so we decided to place an order with Huski, who can deliver pre-made meals to your accommodation, even before you arrive. Arriving to a fully stocked fridge and dinner on the table within 30 minutes of arriving was a super handy. The next morning, we filled up on fresh croissants and headed out to explore the mountains. We took the Grandes Platieres gondola to the top of the mountain and were met with stunning panoramic views of Mont Blanc. It's always nice to start the week on a bluebird day!
Exploring Flaine's picture perfect pistes[/caption] There were three of us on the trip, all a different level of skiing. One member of our group was new to the sport and took lessons in the morning. In the afternoon, we all re-joined and explored the huge choice of ‘cruisey blues’ the resort has to offer. These runs are great - starting at the top of the Flaine bowl with stunning views, reaching gentle tree-lined runs nearer the bottom.
Relaxing in the outdoor hot tub at Residence Les Terrasses d’ Hélios
Having decided to take a more relaxed approach to a ski holiday, the week involved many hot chocolate breaks, with La Pente à Jules quickly becoming a favourite stop-off point. After the slopes closed, we retreated to the outdoor hot tub at our accommodation. Bliss. We wanted a quiet week in the mountains, and for that Flaine is the perfect choice. It’s super convenient, quiet and safe – making it a great choice for families too.
The drive back to Geneva
We took in the last sunset of our holiday during the transfer to Geneva, which took under 1hr 30mins. A great end to an amazing holiday!
