Thought it would never end? After the snowstorm to end all snowstorms, the weather in the French Alps has calmed - a little - and the sun is even making an appearance in some resorts. What an amazing start to the winter!
The Swiss Alps are still in the middle of yet another blizzard and 100cm will fall in Saas Fee today alone!
If you haven't booked a holiday yet for this winter, now is the time!

Zermatt received so much snow that the resort was on lock-down yesterday, but the train in and out of Zermatt will be operational again today according to the resort's Twitter feed.

France
In short, the snow depths in France are huge!
Storm Eleanor brought massive snowfalls last week, as well as high winds and some rain, but on an already considerable base the rain shouldn't have much of a lasting impact. A little more snow (over 30cm in Val Thorens tonight!) is on its way. In a few days' time, should you feel the snow levels are running low, then worry not - a couple of beautiful bluebird days will be followed by yet another decent top-up heading into next week.
Michael, our MD, spent a week in Avoriaz with his family last week and enjoyed amazing conditions, broken up by a couple of day's of the storm:

As mentioned above, Saas Fee is expecting over 1 metre of snow in just one day today. Snow-forecast.com is predicting accumulated snowfalls in Zermatt of 272cm by Wednesday and it only just received a dump of 50cm yesterday!
A break in the weather is on the way for the end of the week, followed up by more snow to come.

North America
For those interested in conditions across the pond, a strong start to the winter in Banff & Lake Louise means conditions have been nothing short of excellent since opening day, and more snow keeps falling. Whistler has now registered over 5 metres of snow this season and flurries will keep things topped up this week. Tremblant is benefiting from the east coast big freeze with another 18cm of snow overnight last night and more on the way.

Open Snow predicts significant snow and powder for the western USA and Canada from today, including in Utah and Colorado which have both had a fairly lean winter so far. The news from California is a storm at the weekend brought a healthy top-up to an already healthy base from big early snowfalls in December, with Mammoth offering the best conditions.
Jackson Hole is having one of the best seasons stateside so far, and Ullr certainly delivered the goods in time for Christmas:
