"You might recognise Sölden from some of the most iconic scenes in the James Bond film Spectre. Definitely worth a watch before you go! A visit to the James Bond Installation ‘Elements’ at over 3000m comes highly recommended and is included free of charge in ski passes of 6 days or more"
Sölden Ski Holidays
If you’re looking for high-altitude slopes, an extensive ski area, a quick and easy airport transfer and plenty of après ski, look no further than the world-famous resort of Sölden. Known as the ‘heartbeat of the Alps’ this lively resort certainly packs a punch.
Enjoy the Slopes
Reaching heights of 3340m and with extensive glacier skiing, Sölden boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps. With verticals just shy of 2000m and one of the best ski lift networks in the world, you can expect long uninterrupted descents that will delight mile-hungry skiers.
Piste maps are done differently here with not only the length indicated but also the slope width – highlighting the amazing choice of wide-open slopes with plenty of space. With so much of the skiing starting more than 2000m above sea level, you can expect superb conditions all season long.
Throw in some excellent on-mountain dining and spectacular scenery and skiing doesn’t get much better!
Buy a ski pass of 3 days or more and you can also ski in neighbouring Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. With more than 100km of blissfully quiet slopes to explore and regular bus connections, a day trip here makes so much sense.
Enjoy the Resort
Sölden stretches along a central road where you’ll find a selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Access to the mountain is via the Giggijoch or Gaislachkogl gondolas located at either end of the town. A regular ski bus service links the two.
Sölden is renowned for its après-ski and it can get pretty lively from the late afternoon onwards – you’ll see some of the bars literally bouncing up and down with everyone getting in the party spirit. If that’s not your cup of tea, step off the main street, head back to your accommodation and you’ll find an oasis of tranquillity.
Where to Stay
