Having worked a season in Méribel, Nicole shares her insider’s tips on how to make the most out of your trip to one of the most popular ski resorts in France.

Situated in the centre of the largest linked ski area in the world, Méribel offers a traditional charm that keeps British skiers coming back year after year.
On arrival you're greeted by the season permanent twinkly light decorations and traditional French, Savoyard style properties - it's a very pretty resort.

Méribel Altiport[/caption]
A vast ski area, the Three Valleys offers something for every type of skier or boarder, in Méribel beginners can be found perfecting their snowplough at the Altiport, where there are some lovely long wide pistes perfect for practising your turns, whereas intermediate to advanced skiers will head straight up the Saulire, a rather eye catching peak which gives you access in to Courchevel if you wish to head that way. Don’t forget the Moon Park which can be accessed from the Tougnete. It’s definitely worth getting a Three Valleys pass as Courchevel boasts excellent skiing and even better restaurants, just don’t forget your wallet!

Méribel isn’t short of a good restaurant or two itself, some of my favourites include;
Evolution; (locally known as Evo’s), they offer a great non-savoyard style menu.
Jacks Bar; usually very lively and popular with Brits.
Le Petit Oignon; a very lovely traditional French restaurant (advisable to book).
Rond Point des Pistes; (The Ronnie as it’s known to locals) Méribel’s classic après ski bar located near the Altiport, so it is easily accessible for beginners too. A mega plus point – there is a slide from the bar area down to the toilets, save you walking down the stairs in your ski boots, we all know how annoying that can be!
La Folie Douce; get your dancing boots on, even if you just ski past it, it’s definitely worth a look!
