If the skiing in La Plagne wasn’t exciting enough, Aérolive offers a completely different way to experience the mountains. Taking you over 3,000 meters above sea level, this open-air gondola experience offers incredible panoramic views across the surrounding peaks, with nothing between you and the mountain air. Aérolive transforms an ordinary journey up the mountain into an experience of its own. Two specially designed cabins, L'Acrobate and La Funambule, travel on the Glaciers gondola toward Live 3000. Unlike a traditional enclosed gondola, these cabins are open to the elements, giving you completely unobstructed views as you make your way up to the highest part of the resort. Each cable car can take up to six people, making it a memorable way to reach the top – although it might to be one for those afraid of heights!
Once you reach the peak, the experience doesn’t have to end there. You can take in even more of the Alpine scenery from the panoramic terrace or stop for a bite to eat at the Sixième Cile Café. Skiers can then collect their equipment and make their way back down the mountain on skis, while those who would rather can relax in the comfort of a traditional enclosed gondola.
The full Aérolive experience takes around one hour and costs €29 per person, making it an easy addition to a day on the mountain. Guests must be at least 1.40m tall, and the experience is dependent on weather conditions.
